What this tool does
Video Converter re-encodes your video into a standard MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) or a WEBM (VP9 video, Opus audio). Use it to make camera footage such as MOV files playable everywhere, or to produce WEBM for web pages and embeds.
MP4 or WEBM?
MP4 with H.264 is the safest choice for phones, TVs and editing apps. WEBM with VP9 often compresses animation and screen content better and is widely supported in browsers, but device and app support is narrower.
Supported formats and limits
Input: MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM or AVI up to 128 MiB, 10 minutes and 1080p. Output: MP4 (H.264 + AAC) or WEBM (VP9 + Opus, 128 kbps audio). Conversion keeps your original resolution and frame rate — nothing is scaled.
Common errors and fixes
UNSUPPORTED_FORMAT: use one of the five listed containers. INVALID_FILE: the file may be damaged or use an unusual codec inside the container. VIDEO_TOO_LONG: trim the source to 10 minutes or less first.
Good to know
Will converting improve the quality?
No. Converting re-encodes the video, and re-encoding cannot add detail. Convert to change compatibility or file type, not to upgrade quality.
Does conversion keep the resolution?
Yes. Your output matches the input resolution up to the 1080p limit; nothing is scaled.
Which format should I choose for the web?
WEBM (VP9) usually gives smaller files in browsers and is a good fit for web pages. Choose MP4 when compatibility with phones, TVs and apps matters most.
Why is my WEBM result larger than expected?
VP9 is tuned here for real-time speed rather than maximum compression. Detailed live-action footage may not shrink much; animation and screen recordings usually benefit most.
What happens to extra audio tracks or subtitles?
Only the first video stream and the first audio stream are copied into the result; additional tracks, subtitles, chapters and metadata are not preserved.
What are the file limits?
Up to 128 MiB, 10 minutes and 1920 pixels on either edge (2073600 total pixels; portrait supported), with up to 8 audio/video streams. Processing time depends on the operation. Uploads resume from the last completed chunk during this session; paused uploads expire after 15 minutes.
How long are files kept?
Inputs and temporary files are deleted after processing or failure. Download results within 30 minutes.
How to use Convert Video
- Select an authorized mp4, mov, mkv, webm, avi file.
- Choose the available options and start processing. Keep this browser session open — if you refresh, an in-flight task is offered for recovery on this page.
- Download the mp4 or webm result before it expires. Keep your original file.
Converting between formats can change quality, and compression savings depend on the original codec and settings; some files may not become smaller.
